[Review] La Mer Oil Absorbing Lotion

Hey everyone (:

I'm always on the hunt for that holy grail moisturizer, but I just can't find one :( I've been looking and looking...but nothing so far. That doesn't mean I haven't found a decent moisturizer though. I have moisturizers that are okay and fine, but I'm still on the hunt for the one, you know? My mom gave me this La Mer moisturizer, titled the La Mer Oil Absorbing Lotion. I looked online for the price, and saw that this is...$230 from Nordstrom.

Oh. My. Goodness. I freaked out the same way you probably are freaking out right now, and gasped the same way you guys are most likely shaking your heads in front of your computer, reading this. After my mom gave this to me, I was so excited to try this out. However, the burning question is: Is the moisturizer good - and, if it is, is it worth that enormous price tag?

The bottle and packaging feel and look so luxurious XD

The ingredients are in the picture below.

The bottle is pretty, and the way to retrieve the product is hygienic (:

Look! It even came with a mini instruction booklet type thing.

After I cleansed my face, I followed the instructions on the moisturizer. I have learned that though many people think that you can use the same method for putting on any moisturizer, you can actually maximize the benefits, etc., when you specifically follow the instructions that come with the products. This way, you can be sure you're doing it the right way - often times, people claim a product didn't work, but they just didn't follow the directions (:

Anyways, back to where I was, after I put on the moisturizer, my skin felt a tiny bit tight, but that could be because of my cleanser...During the day, my skin became a bit oily and shiny. Besides that, though, this moisturizer worked wonders. I no longer looked like so greasy throughout the day. However, I wouldn't consider this my holy grail moisturizer or even a holy grail product. With the price factored in, though, I doubt I would've bought this myself. It's just way too expensive, even though it does work well.

Pros:
- Controls oil decently
- Smells fine

Cons:
- Contains fragrance
- Makes my skin feel tight sometimes
- Expensive price

Repurchase? Nah...Great product, but the price is just too much for me.

Also, because this is skincare related, I would like to emphasize that what may work for my skin may not work for your skin, and your skin could react differently to this product than mine did.

  1. The product looks interesting but yes, the price is quite steep. My current moisturizer is the Argan Oil. It saves me money because the Argan Oil can also be your all around beauty elixir :)

    1. I think I'll look into Argan Oil (I've heard great things about Josie Maran's Argan Oil), but my main concern is that my skin is oily/combo and a bit sensitive as of now, so I'm not sure how well I'll do with more oil on my face (:

  2. It has both zinc and magnesium gluconate which are very powerful oil control ingredients. Its rare to see both ingredients in one product. But damnnnnn the price is too much. Grabeh haha
